Gunthar, der älteste Sohn von Chlothar I. (P21543), wurde im Jahr 532 gemeinsam mit Theudebert I. (P23134) auf einen Feldzug nach Südgallien geschickt. Er kam bis Rodez, kehrte dann aber um. Laut Greg. Tur. hist. IV, 3 starb er bei Lebzeiten des Vaters (vgl. Guntharius. PLRE 3A, 1992, 576).
